Edith Schriever, Author

Edith Schriever is the author of ‘Talos and the Yellow Suitcase’, a heartwarming book written in free-verse for all ages. She also writes a blog, called Double Dutch plus Three, in which she describes her life after moving from the Netherlands to an island in Maine.

A passion for Writing

When Edith discovered at the age of 8, that her last name in Dutch dialect means “writer” she was determined to make that work. It took a few years, but eventually, she did just that: became a writer!

Talos

Her book Talos and the Yellow Suitcase is a heartwarming story for all ages, written in free verse.

Double Dutch

No longer an appropriate title for the blog, Edith started this when both she and her husband were two people from the Netherlands, raising their children on an island in Maine. Now they are both American citizens and most American customs and habits are as common to them as to the average American!

Art

The illustrations in Talos were made by Edith’s son Joris Korstanje.

He used simple pen and ink techniques to leave lots of the imagination to the reader.

Talos and the Yellow Suitcase is available at Sherman’s bookstore, Bar Harbor and Maine Authors and Publishing online

Talos

What others have to say about Talos and the Yellow Suitcase

Twice read, not yet fully digested and all I can say it’s an amazing piece of writing. Its loving, heartrending orderly construct took my breath away. A forward and backward Wow!

This book offers a beautiful, many-layered story. Thought-provoking and full of symbolism and metaphor, Talos will stay in your mind long after you finish reading.

For me Talos is a reference book. When I want encouragement I open it to any page and read words that sanctify life.

Edith’s words are purposeful poetry in action.

It peels back the layers of struggle to get out from under, revealing what is truly worthwhile and ultimately achievable.
